Designing lighting for the next generation of students, educators, employees and technology is challenging and vital to occupant health. Fluorescent lamp sources were often hidden from direct view, but the direct nature of LED light fixtures result in greater occupant impact. This has led to a large increase in complaints due to headaches and discomfort, which also equals lost productivity and revenue. This session will provide strategies on addressing glare and techniques to improve educational and office environment lighting.

Travis Taullie is the Senior Lighting Designer for DLR Group’s SouthWest Region. He has 20+ years of designing lighting projects of all types, and has spent the last 3 years focused on the elimination of glare within the lit environment. Travis currently sits on the Energy and Sustainability Forum for IALD where he is helping to develop new glare metrics for LEED and the WELL Building Standard.
